You remember That Kid C-G from a couple months ago. An affiliate of Chiddy Bang, C-G has a new mixtape dropping this month titled Lifestyles of the Rich and Swelligent. This song will be featured on the album, and if I didn't know any better I'd say this one was produced by Xaphoon Jones. Anyways, song is dope, and definitely looking forward to this project, whenever it drops.

Nice visual from CB for one of my favorite songs of their's, "Truth." This one samples Passion Pit, and as usual it's fantastic. It's from their first mixtape Swelly Express. They continue to do good things.

I first became interested in Ellie Goulding when I was over in England this past fall. She was voted BBC's Sound of 2010, and came out with her debut album Lights a few weeks ago. So a Chiddy Bang remix of arguably her most popular song "Under the Sheets" sounds pretty good. And it is. This is the first leak off of CB's upcoming mixtape Air Swell which takes inspiration from their recent tour in the UK (hence the Ellie "sample"). Really looking forward to this.

I guess this is a video of a freestyle Proto from Chiddy Bang spit while in London for one of their concerts. Is it just me, or is this almost better than the stuff off the mixtape? Nonetheless, it is ridiculous.

Little late on this one, but here it is anyways. Chiddy takes the Gorillaz lead single off their upcoming album Plastic Beach due out March 9th, and puts their stamp on it. Chiddy has been tearing up the UK as of late, with "Kids (Opposite of Adults)" currently at #8 on the iTunes Uk chart, as well as doing a bunch of performances. Why couldn't I still be in the UK?

This Just In...That Kid C-G

Hey everyone, Andrew and I were recently informed of some news on an up and coming rapper that most of you probably have heard nothing about. This guys name is That Kid C-G. Let me tell you that we were both nothing less than amazed when we heard the tracks that we heard. That Kid C-G has a flow like Wiz Khalifa with the production of Chiddy Bang and beats that are just off the wall insane and different. The beats range in sound from Chromeo like to indie. We don't have much more information than what we have right now. You can follow him on Twitter.

Unlike sites such as 2DB, P&P, and PfoP, we don't get a ton of emails from artists asking us to listen to their music. But today we received one asking us to take a listen to a rapper named That Kid C-G. And I am very glad I gave him a chance. Mike pretty much covered what you need to know about him and his music. He hails from NYC and possesses an incredible range of styles. Really, really impressed with this kid. Sure to be plenty of good stuff from him in the future. Here are a couple of highlights:

As you know, I'm very high on everything Chiddy does, and I wish I was still in London this past week for their show, cause I'm sure it was amazing. Their forthcoming EP "Opposite of Adults," is scheduled to drop Feb 22nd, and I for one could not be anymore pumped.

We did the best albums of 2009, but now it's time for the best mixtapes of 2009. There were a ton, but I think I narrowed it down to the top seven. 7. B.o.B B.o.B. vs Bobby Ray

So much talent. Bobby Ray/B.o.B. is going to blow up in 2010. Get this and be ahead of the game. He brings so much more than just great lyrics into his songs, such as great instrumentation, samples, and singing.

6. Drake So Far Gone

5. Lil Wayne No Ceilings

The return of the mixtape Weezy. None of that Rebirth, Young Money stuff that has plagued Weezy's career as of late. Just Wayne rapping over songs such as "D.O.A.," "Run This Town," and even "I Got A Feeling."

4. J. Cole The Warm-Up

J Cole really came into prominence in 09. And thank God he did, as his talent is undeniable. Excellent lyrics and great flow comprise this tape with "Lights Please" and "Can I Live" being the standout tracks. Debut album coming in 2010.

3. Wiz Khalifa Flight School

While his debut album didn't really live up to my expectations, this mixtape exceeded expectations by a mile. Wiz's lyrics may not be the deepest in the world, but his humorous rhymes, and outstanding beats more than make-up for this slight downfall. And, he uses auto-tune a good amount, and I love the auto-tune.

2. Chiddy Bang The Swelly Express

The lyrics are very good. But the production is what puts this tape on a precipice so far above others. With samples from Sufjan Stevens, MGMT, Belle and Sebastian, and even Mary Poppins, this tape seamlessly blends indie music and hip-hop effortlessly. Probably my favorite mixtape of 09, but Lupe just murdered his tape way to hard not to be #1.

1. Lupe Fiasco Enemy of the State

If you don't have this yet, GET IT. One word: decimation. Lupe takes the beat to your favorite rapper's hit song ("Fireman" by Wayne, "Angels" by Dirty Money, "Say Something" by Timbaland), and absolutely decimates any lyrics they attempted to spit over them, firmly establishing himself as the king of lyrical wordplay.
