Micellanious
I'm dead tired, and I've got the Manchester United vs. Philadelphia Union in half an hour, so I figured I'd just hit you guys with a mix of things I've been meaning to post, but just haven't gotten around to. The iTunes pre-order for Mike Posner's upcoming album 31 Minutes to Takeoff came out yesterday, and this song hit the web. To be honest it was a bit too poppy for me at first. I missed the collaborations with Big Sean and the general almost less-polished feeling his mixtapes have. After a few listens though, I'm actually really like this record. That being said, the album drops August 10th, and I'm super pumped for it.
This song comes from mash-up artists Hulk Smash, and it combines The Jackson 5's "I Want You Back" with Ellie Goulding's "Starry Eyed." Now to be fair, I'm pretty sure you could mash the sound of a jackhammer and a baby's cry with "I Want You Back" and it would still sound good. And Ms. Goulding's debut album will probably find its way onto my much anticipated "Best of 2010" list. So the building blocks are there to create a great mash-up. And it is. Definitely a great song to listen to in the car on a hot day.

DJ Earworm "Like OMG, Baby (Capital FM Summertime Ball Mash-up)"
The same guy who brought us the incredible, unreal "United States of Pop 2009" mash-up, is back, and ready for summer. This time DJ Earworm takes all the hottest songs from both the US and UK, and puts them together, seamlessly; once again creating a guaranteed party starter. The video is super dope as well. All his stuff if ridiculously good, especially his "USoP 2008," which I'll leave you guys to check out on your own HERE.

Mash-Ups
Kids these days. When their eyes aren't transfixed to a television or computer screen, they're running around like orangoutangs hopped up on a potent mixture of Fruity Pebbles and Moutain Dew laced with Kool-Aid. Alright, that last part is a little much. The point is, mash-ups are perfect for this ADD generation. They take the "boring" songs which we've all heard a million times on Top-40 radio, and make them something completely new. That being said, we've got some real "bangers" for you on this Father's Day. The Hood Internet- "Rude Baptism (Rihanna vs. Crystal Castles)" (This one starts off slow, but give it some time...)
And last but not least:
(This one is just out of control. TWP is quickly establishing themselves as one of, if not the, best mash-up groups out there right now. Watch out for their sophmore mixtape Rematch out July 2nd. Cannot wait for this one.)

New Music
Since there wasn't much new music posted this week, I figured I'd use this half-time of the England vs USA game to get everyone up to date. There's a little bit for everyone here, so check it out:Yesterday some new XV surfaced, as as usual with this dude, it is really sick. With production from Seven, the man behind XV's excellent mixtape Everybody's Nobody, the track has a synthy spacey vibe to it, which suits XV perfectly. And of course, XV unleashes his usual verbal onslaught. This is said to be off his delayed Kid With the Green Backpack album, but we'll see. Highly recommended.
This song has been sitting on my iTunes for a while now, but I keep coming back to it, and I figured I'd let everyone else in on it. The group is Hoodie Allen, and the song is fire. It samples the British Band Marina and the Diamonds "I Am Not a Robot." Very Chiddy Bang feel to this song/band. And according to P&P, they are coming out with a mixtape which samples exclusively off Marina and the Diamonds' debut The Family Jewels, which sounds like it will be really good.
I don't know if anyone is into Twilight, but the soundtrack just came out, and it is excellent. It's got Florence and the Machine, Muse, The Bravery, and Band of Horses to name a few. My favorite however is Vampire Weekend's "Jonathan Low." Not even being biased (as you know I love VW), the song is just remarkable. In typical Vampire Weekend it is similar to their other work, yet completely new and original at the same time. Familiar without being boring.
Since I know everyone loves the mash-ups, here is one from the project October's Very Cold, which mashes Drake and Coldplay. Done by Chi-Duly, the tape is pretty good as a whole. But this track is by far the best. It's hard to explain, so all I can say is give it a listen.

Tons of Good Stuff
