This album/song/group are kinda old (by today's standards), but I've recently become intrigued with them, especially this song. Salem is often described as a southern gothic/electronic/drag/etherial wave band, which may not make much sense to those who have not listened to them. In any event, this song did not resonate much with me at first. That is until I heard the sample. It sample's a choral rendition of "O, Holy Night," and it works to perfection. It seems odd that the combination of purely grating bass and synths would seamlessly combine with one of the most beautiful Christmas songs, but it does.
